Family and friend game nights are big in my home. We love to gather around our dining room table for a night of board games and laughter.
Halloween and Autumn are also some of my favorite times of the year, so I thought it would be nice to list perfect board games for this occasion. This year, my husband and I are dressing up and playing Halloween-themed board games at the game store where my father works!
My family is nerdy, but we love games for Halloween time!

The Best Board Games for Halloween
Here is my spooky collection of board games that are the best for your Halloween-themed game night with family and friends!
Mysterium

I am starting with Mysterium because it is my favorite one! In this game, one person plays a ghost while the rest of the players are psychics trying to figure out what happened to the ghost and help free the troubled spirit.
Since the player playing the ghost can’t speak, the psychic must decipher what happened to the ghost through a series of dreams(cards with images). This game is challenging and really fun to play with a big group.
- Time: 42 minutes
- Players: 2 to 7 people
- Age: 10+ years
Kill Doctor Lucky

Why not have a family game of trying to off someone? It seems appropriate for the season! Prepare to kill Doctor Lucky in this clue-ish game of cold-blooded murder.
In this game, you are playing against your teammates to be the first to kill Doctor Lucky. You will wander through a mansion, and if you happen to find yourself alone in a room with Doctor Lucky, you can go in for the kill!
- Time: 20-40 minutes
- Players: 2 to 8 people
- Age: 12+ years
Horrified

My husband and I enjoyed learning this game together. I had to have this because my son and I are obsessed with cryptids and mythical creatures, and this is the American monster edition!
In this game, you are working cooperatively to defend your hometown against cryptids who rise up to attack your community!
- Time: 60 minutes
- Players: 1 to 5 people
- Age: 10+ years
Harry Potter: Death Eaters Rising

If you ever loved Thanos Rising and loved it and are also a Potterhead, this game is for you!
This game is so much fun! This is also a cooperative game (I am sensing a theme here.) based on the 5th Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoniex. You must gather witches and wizards to rise against Voldemort and his death eaters before their darkness spreads too far into the wizarding world.
- Time: 60 minutes
- Players: 2 to 4 people
- Age: 11+ years

Shadows in the Forest

This game is unique and somewhat challenging. It’s a good one to play with your children as long as no one is too afraid of the dark!
This is a play-in-the-dark strategy game. How cool is that? This hide-and-seek game takes place in an ancient forest. One player uses a tiny lantern to try and seek out “shadowlings” while the remaining players work together to hide the “shadowlings” away from the light.
- Time: 20-30 minutes
- Players: 2 to 7 people
- Age: 8+ years

Clue

I had to throw in a classic game. As you can see from the picture above, I have had this game since I was a child. I loved playing this game when I was young, even though I was terrible at it.
Most will know this is the classic game of who, where, and what kind of weapon. Please find out how Mr. Boddy met his gruesome end in this family-friendly game of murder and mystery!
- Time: 30-60 minutes
- Players: 3 to 6 people
- Age: 8+ years
Find Clue here! And this version of Clue looks fun, too!
Survive: Escape From Atlantis

This is a fun game with an excellent expansion to add more players and fun! Who doesn’t want to escape from a volcanic island with a sea full of monsters during Halloween time?
In Survive: Escape from Atlantis, you have a group of explorers who must escape the sinking island and find boats or swim through a sea of monsters, sharks, and whales to return to land before all your players are eaten.
- Time: 45 minutes
- Players: 2 to 4 people
- Age: 8+ years
