My top five journals for self-care and personal growth:

Practice You: A Journal by Elena Brower

Practice you journal on a wood surface.

This has been my favorite journal! This prompted journal was not only inspiring but also beautiful on the inside. The chakra system inspired it, and Elena’s presentation of the content is beautiful and inspiring.

All the artwork within is watercolor artwork done by the author, a fantastic yoga teacher. She was one of the first teachers I followed when I began my yoga journey. This journal is still impactful even if yoga and chakras are not your things!

This journal is for:

  • Yoga lovers
  •  Chakra lovers
  •  Understanding yourself on a deeper level

Into the Wild: Shadow Work Journal by Dominica Applegate

Shadowwork can be challenging, but it is necessary to find balance.

I cannot begin to explain the power of shadow work. It is challenging but rewarding and vital to move through your pain and grief to help yourself grow as a human being.

This shadow work-prompted journal has helped me work through so much that I was holding in or even had forgotten, and I realized that being a flawed human is beautiful. If you want to know more about shadow work, click here.

A Book that Takes Its Time: An Unhurried Adventure in Creative Mindfulness by Irene Smit & Astrid Van Der Hulst

A Book the takes its Time Journal on wood surface.

My beautiful son “took his time” expressing himself on the front of my journal. 🙂 My mother-in-law and sister-in-law gifted me this excellent journal, which inspires you to be creative and take life slowly.

The authors are also the creators of Flow Magazine, which I still need to read, but after going through this journal, I want to check out what else they offer.

It is chock-full of mini-prompted journals, stickers, cards, and articles to keep you aware and creative. Seriously, you need this journal!

This journal is for:

  • Creatives of all kinds
  •  Practicing mindfulness
  •  Celebrating beauty

Body Kindness by Rebecca Scritchfield, RDN

Book on a wood surface.

It’s not a journal but contains many journal prompts for cultivating positivity.

Technically, it is a self-help book, not a journal; it has many journaling prompts throughout the chapters. This book helped me look at my body differently and begin loving myself for who I am, not how thin I can be.

Many of us, especially women, struggle with body image issues, and I think this book is a kind and gentle way to begin to see that we are enough no matter what society says!

This journal/book is for:

  • Body positivity
  •  Self-love
  •  Breaking up with “diet culture.”
