ASMR is a beautiful way to relax, unwind, and even help you sleep. Some people love it, and others (like my husband) think it’s unpleasant.
This is one of my favorite ways to relax and feel what they call “butter brain.” I have been experiencing it since I was very young, but I never had a name for this feeling. It has been discovered and turned into something helpful, artistic, and soothing.
PIN ME!

I am even listening to it as I write this article. So yeah, I am a little obsessed. 😉
This post will cover what it is, why it is beneficial, and list some of my favorite ASMRists I have found over the years.
What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. This is usually experienced as a feeling of well-being and relaxation, combined with a tingly sensation in the scalp and neck in response to a particular sound or feeling, such as:
- paper crinkling
- soap cutting
- soft whispering
- tapping
- chewing
- writing
- soft-spoken roleplays
- page-turning
Believe me when I say the list can go on and on, and the triggers(as these things are referred to) are endless.
What are the benefits of ASMR?
This has been fantastic for helping me fall asleep and reminds me of a good yoga Nidra session. I even play it when I am personally practicing my yoga routines. I use Spotify and YouTube to find ASMRtists.
Benefits may include:
- Helps with falling asleep & easing insomnia.
- Diminishing anxiety & depression
- Soothing stress
- Deep relaxation
- Finding a sense of community
