To me, nothing is better than playing games with a group of friends, my family, or my significant other. Playing games gets us off our phones and gives us time to be with the ones we love, having fun in a way humans have done for centuries.
Board games have been around since around 3050 BCE, thanks to ancient Egyptians! Check out this neat article on 10 of the oldest board games out there if you want to delve deeper like me!

It helps that my father works at a gaming store, so I have many games and game nights! Let’s focus on the coziest of my games, as they are my favorites, and I think they will be yours, too!

Why are board games amazing?
People may say board games are boring, but I think that means they just haven’t played the right game or played with the right people.
Here are a few good reasons you should play board games:
- They bring people together and help you get to know each other better.
- They can be educational and teach lessons like good sportsmanship, especially for kids!
- They let us play, be silly, and/or relax.
The Best Cozy Board Games
Here are my top 10 coziest games! Enjoy!
1. Calico

Loves quilts and cats? Someone did, apparently, and made a cute and cozy game out of it!
In this game, you must build the coziest quilt to attract as many cats as possible. The turns are as simple as placing a patch tile to satisfy specific design goals and adding buttons and cats for pazazz!

4. Dungeons & Dragons

Maybe not a board game, but there is nothing cozier than gathering friends and adventuring from the comfort of my dining room table.
The ideas are endless, so find your Dungeon Master and a party of fellow adventurers and act your heart out. Have fun building a character, rolling (and endlessly collecting) dice, and roleplaying your heart out! There are endless books and information out there for beginners!
- Time: As short or as long as you like! Some games have lasted for years! (We play once a month for 3ish hours a session.)
- Players: Again, you can have as many as you wish, but the fewer, the better. I think 4 to 5 players are best, so everyone gets a chance to play.
- Age: 5-99 years. It’s really for everyone!

You can play a colorful one-player puzzle game even cuddled up in your bed, or at least that’s how I do it.

Also, there are a ton of chess boards to choose from, and many have amazingly nerdy themes like this Lord of the Rings one!
